Disney TV Programming Blackout on DirectTV

Disney / DirecTV contract dispute leads to another blackout

Shortly after 4 p.m. PT (7 p.m. ET) on Sept. 1, Disney blocked all of its programming channels on the DirecTV satellite service, which includes ESPN, ABC, Hulu, Freeform, and FX.

The decision to remove the programming seems to be due to a disagreement regarding the licensing agreement between Disney and DirecTV. DirecTV has a Promise Page in place for situations like this blackout.

If you have been affected by this Disney TV Blackout you can visit the company's TV Promise page to see if you are eligible for a credit. To do this, select your TV service, enter your ZIP code, and click Search. If you qualify for a credit, you can then proceed to the Explore bill credits section of the TV Promise page and follow the instructions to claim your compensation.

There are also alternative programming channels available, including a $49.99/ month option. Reach out to Genesis Business advisors to discuss your options. Click here for a free consultation.
